L'Oreal Revitalift Laser Renew Eye Cream

Hi lovelies,

I only recently thought I should add an eye cream to my daily skin care regime. The area under the eyes is naturally low in moisture. In my case it is very dry. I did not realise it until my skin specialist pointed that out. While I always thought eye creams were for mature skin, these could work equally well if you have tired eyes with dark circles and puffiness. Hence, my search for the right eye cream followed. 'Right' here means something which is not too light or heavy. Some eye creams can end up being sensitive to your eyes hence the irritation. So it has to be a quality formula and a trusted brand.

My search ended before it even started! I wanted to purchase a moisturising cream for my mom as a gift while I was in London so decided to go for Loreal Revitalift Laser Renew range. It was something affordable and new in stores. While I got I got Revitalift Laser Renew Anti Ageing Cream for my mom, I got for myself Revitalift Laser X3 Renew AdvancedAnti-Ageing Eye Cream. It is specifically formulated for the delicate under eye area and felt very light even for use in summers.

L’Oreal Revitalift Laser X3Renew Advanced Anti-Ageing Eye Cream is not a laser treatment but it sure will give you an intense result by reducing the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines and bags around the eye area often due to lack of sleep. One is supposed to see visible results in just 4 weeks. Here is how the triple action formula works:

Re plumps Wrinkle: Enriched with Hyaluronic acid, considered an effective moisture magnet found naturally in skin, for a stimulating effect. It helps reduce wrinkles and fine lines.

Reduce Eye Bags: Enriched with caffeine the formula when applied with its cool metallic tip applicator hydrates the skin leaving it feeling refreshed hence the eye bags appear reduced.

Firms Skin: Enriched with Pro-Xylane known for its anti-ageing properties leaves skin firmer and toned.

This eye cream comes in a vibrant packaging of deep red and charcoal grey. I love the metallic tip which gives you a cooling and relaxing massage effect while you apply. Sometimes I would wait for a minute to allow it to cool down and start massaging with it again. The texture is delicate and so velvety yet so light. Plus it smells so pleasant. Soon after I applied this to my eye contour area, my skin felt hydrated instantly, smooth and refreshed! I also apply it before applying makeup so that once I apply compact powder my skin under the eyes does not feel overly dry. I personally found this product to be a quality product delivering what it says over the packaging.

If you are somebody who is concerned about dry skin especially under the eyes or you want to treat your eye bags and puffiness, this will do wonders to your skin. Find out more on this range by clicking here

The Magic of Hibiscus Flower

I'm a tea lover.

Yes I'm a coffee lover too, actually - a coffeeholic. I also did a post long time back to appreciate my affection (read: addiction) towards coffee. I can’t have enough of coffee but once a tea lover, always a tea lover.

Today's post is a journey of discovery, discovery of magical flowers with magical powers. One of these flowers is Hibiscus. Hibiscus are small trees that product large, trumpet-shaped flowers over a long season. The colours range from beautiful yellows to pretty peaches to exotic reds! Let’s talk about tea now. Tea is a wonderful aromatic beverage and its history goes back to Shang Dynasty around 1500 BC in China. Considered as the royalty's primary beverage, mainly for its ability to improve health it was also consumed in the ancient Nile Valley during the time of Pharaohs. In time tea was improvised hence herbal tea - the infusion of herbs, flowers and fruits prepared without the tea plant, became equally popular.

Benefits of Hibiscus Tea

I have always been a huge admirer of herbal teas and enjoyed many of these particularly Peppermint and Chamomile but Hibiscus was introduced to me only lately. I saw these being consumed by a few executive guests in my office and couldn't help asking what it was. I had NEVER seen such a gorgeous crimson colour. Reminds me of YSL lipsticks. Turns out its Hibiscus Tea. It is derived by from deep red cup-like structures formed by the Hibiscus flower sepals. Tea preparation is a piece of cake - literally. Take boiled water in a tea cup, dip the tea bag, done. Leave the tea bag in the cup (like I do) if you want a stronger flavor. If you like light tea, do 3-4 dips only. You can also add a bit of Ginger if you like the aroma. (Ginger tea is awesome too!) Even Mint.

The Taste: The taste is semi-sweet and somewhat like cranberries. At some point the sweetness is similar to as that of pomegranate.

The Science: This is important. If you know a little chemistry this should be easy to understand. In human body oxidation causes two electrons to break apart, leaving two oxygen radicals to roam about freely. These can damage healthy cell and even become cancerous. Hibiscus petals contain flavonoids and anthocyanins, plant pigments that give a red, blue or a purple shade. These are antioxidants, meaning they fight the negative effects of oxidation process.

The Benefits: Tea, generally speaking is the healthiest drink after purified drinking water and is a wonderful antioxidants. A recent research (complete research findings here) investigated over 3000 antioxidant foods and drinks to test - Hibiscus topped the rankings. It is a healthy alternative to other sugary beverages and juices which are high in artificial ingredients and preservatives. Since tea, specifically Hibiscus tea is rich in antioxidants they fight the cellular damage and support the immune system. The natural chemicals in the drink also help battle heart issues majorly Hypertension commonly known as high blood pressure. It also promotes digestive and bowel regularity, water control and weight loss. The benefits are promising! However, it is not recommended for pregnant women and people who suffer from low blood pressure.

Peppermint tea is my other favorite tea. I usually start my day with these. Above is the shot of my cup-of-tea early morning today. Hibiscus tea, however is part of my everyday 'healthy diet' routine now, until I run out of the tea bags and fall for the old flame - coffee! I hope not. *smiles*

Talk about Flower Power!

SUBLIME New Fragrance by Carolina Herrera

Hi Lovelies,

Today’s post is a review of an exquisite fragrance I came across while I was on vacation in London. Inspired by a sophisticated, sensual woman that has a sense of humor, the house of Carolina Herrera came up with a chypre based perfume this summer – Carolina Herrera Eau De Parfum Sublime. I have always been a huge fan of fruity top notes in a perfume followed by heavier, musky middle and bottom notes - Sublime does that beautifully. The scent complements femininity, elegance, sensuality and charm. Sublime woman is fun, cheerful and charming with a hint of mystery which makes her more special and irresistible. If you’re someone who lusts for luxury, this is the one for you.

SUBLIME New Fragrance by Carolina Herrera
SUBLIME New Fragrance by Carolina Herrera
As you already know, the House of Carolina Herrera is a high fashion brand. The bottle is absolutely stunning and very glamorous. It’s all croc-embossed with blue stitching done around in contrast color. Topped off with a very girly bow and gold cap, this is the right mix of girly glamor. The bottle and the scent complement each other really well. The best part for me is the composition however. There is a hint of freshness from bergamot along with sweetness of passion flower, followed by exquisite smell of rose. This is almost inspired by old vintage scents of 20s with a twist of modernity. This touch of modernity also reflects in the bottom notes of orchids and leather.

All I can say now is that this fragrance is on top of my favorite perfumes list and has all the potential of becoming my signature scent as well. The chic bottle, sensual fragrance, the aroma makes it so magical so what’s not to love about this perfume?

4-Step Smoky Eyes in Silver Black | The Body Shop

There is nothing sexier, classic & more sophisticated than smoky eyes - period.

Smoky eyes were one thing I was most inspired by while I was discovering makeup in my teens. It was also something I found most difficult to achieve. But what do they say about success? Try, try until you succeed. Nobody wants to end up looking like a panda, right?

4-Step Smoky Eyes in Silver Black by The Body Shop

Today I wanted to take some time out to appreciate this 'one' palette that made me achieve the most dramatic & sexy smoky eyes. Behold 4-Step Smoky Eyes in Silver Black by The Body Shop. This palette was part of The Body Shop's Winter Makeup trends. It includes four eye shadows: Charcoal Black, Marble Grey, Ice White & Silver Highlighter. Charcoal Black is a really nice matte shade to create that depth & smoky effect to your eyes. Marble Grey is slightly pigmented & really smooth to apply however Ice White & Silver are pigmented & reflect a lot of light. They also help to give that glamorous touch to your smoky eyes. Also included in this kit is a Mini Eye Shadow Brush& Mini Eye Definer in Black.

I am really impressed by the quality of 4-Step Smoky Eyes in Silver Black. I must mention that I've always been a huge fan of The Body Shop's skincare & perfumes' range which are out of this world but I haven’t really tried a lot of their cosmetics. These eye shades are beautiful & the kit is all you need to complete your eye makeup -literally. The packaging is really sleek with instructions at the back which guides you through the process of creating that perfect look. The kit also has a wide mirror inside it which is really handy.

Here's how I achieve the look with this palette.

Step 1: Apply Ice White all over eyelids.
Step 2: Line your eyes with the Mini Eye Definer in Black.
Step 3: Pat Charcoal Black right above the Mini Eye Definer.
Step 4: Apply Marble Grey over the two eye shadows to soften the look and blend.
Step 5: Finish off with Ice White in the inner corners of the eyes & below the brows.

If you're a smoky eye lover this palette is a must in your makeup collection. For me this is a definite repurchase.

How do YOU create smoky eyes?

ArtDeco's Tango Red or Pearl Nude?

Hi pretty ladies,

Well I have been a huge fan of ARTDECO nail polishes. You can find all about this brand on my  ARTDECO NOTD post.  I must share that despite being an expensive brand, I am also been a huge fan of ARTDECO lipsticks. I recently purchased two ARTDECO lipsticks from their High Performance Lipstick Collection. The lipsticks are phenomenal! They look super glamorous even from their packaging. These come in sleek, metallic reflecting silver packaging.

The High Performance Lipstick in its noble, shapely design and with its irresistibly light and supple texture provides a particularly soft and subtle lip make-up with seductive shine. Due to Maxi Lip the lip volume is visually increased while the lips are additionally nourished with Panthenol & Vitamin E. The many different shades perfectly accentuate the lips from discreet and natural to dramatic!” – says ARTDECO.

ARTDECO High Performance Lipsticks in 426 Tango Red & 457 Pearl Nude

The two lipsticks that I purchased are 426 Tango Red & 457 Pearl Nude. There is absolutely no way for me to decide which of these two I like more. Tango Red is a beautiful, oh beautiful red. The kind of red that alone can make you look incredible. The best part is that it perfectly suits my complexion hence ‘the red’ shade for me. It’s pretty long-lasting. You can kiss up a storm & you’ll still have this on your lips, lol! This red makes your lipstick even look expensive!

On the other hand, I picked Pearl Nude because I wanted to get a shade which was completely different than the previous one. This one is a gorgeous nude shade with a beautiful peachy-pearl shine to it. Do not confuse pearl with frost though. I love the hint of shimmer that shows up once you apply it. It looks dazzling with a hint of clear gloss over it. I also tried to experiment a little. If you purchase both shades try applying Tango Red first. Then take Pearl Nude and apply just a hint on the lower lip around the middle & finish off with clear lip gloss. This creates a beautiful & glamorous gradient effect which is perfect for formal dinners, nights out, dates!

The best thing about ARTDECO High Performance Lipstick Collection is that it doesn’t leave your lips dry. It’s creamy & glides easily on the lips. The texture is smooth & supple. It’s also long-lasting staying up to four hours without reapplication. If you need more ‘protection’.. ahem ahem.. you can try applying ARTDECO Magic Fix Lipstick Sealer which ensure you don’t end up leaving a mark on his collar.

A girl can never have too many lipsticks!

So let me know which is your favorite shade.

Oriental Pampering with Imperial Leather

I love pampering!

And summers is the best time to indulge in luxury & pampering where you do not need to think twice before jumping into that pool or hitting the beach. :)

Imperial Leather - the brand is associated to my childhood. I remember the classy Imperial Leather soap bar my mom would purchase. The red packaging & angular sides made it look so exclusive & luxurious. This bar alone was enough for a complete beauty regime back then. This served as one of the reasons I picked Oriental Calm Pampering Shower Cream from Imperial Leather. By just looking at this bottle of shower cream made me recall my childhood beauty luxuries.

Oriental Calm Pampering Shower Cream by Imperial Leather

Oriental Calm Pampering Shower Cream comes in a colorful angular bottle with different shades of pink cherry blossoms on it. This luxury shower cream has two main ingredients: Cherry Blossoms & Vanilla Beans both being my favorite! Cherry Blossom is Chinese symbol of female beauty. On the other hand Vanilla Beans are known for its warm, comforting & relaxing aroma. These shower creams are thick, rich & twice as creamy as other shower creams. I have a really dry skin & it gets drier after showers. Thanks to Oriental Calm my skin feels moisturized after every shower.

The fragrance: the fragrance of Oriental Calm is just as it sounds. It's like an oriental sunrise, early morning, a little crispy, like an early morning breeze filled with cherry blossoms somewhere near.. ummm.. Mount Fuji? It's calm & relaxing. The hints of Vanilla Beans add so much texture to the fragrance without overdoing it. Overall - a truly relaxing experience. It comes at a very affordable price so do give it a try. You can choose from 5 different types from this range.

L'Oreal Elnett Satin Heat Styling Spray 'Volume'

I use hair styling straightener & blow dryers a lot!

And there has been a time when I did all these heat styling without any heat protection. Terrible – I know! The realization came sooner than later so I went around searching for a good product. What I finally picked was Loreal Elnett Satin Heat Protect Styling Spray.

Loreal Elnett Satin Heat Protect Styling Spray 'Volume'
Loreal Elnett Satin Heat Protect Styling Spray 'Volume'
Loreal Elnett Satin Heat Protect Styling Spray 'Volume'
Why I picked this? Firstly it comes as a spray. In the past, I mostly used serums which felt nice to work around in the hair but I wanted to go for a spray this time as I think it’s more convenient & quicker to apply. Then I chose volume. I have soft, normal hair & they lose body really quickly. This spray works well with my hair to give them some bounce too. And off course for heat protection as it’s enriched with Heat Protection Technology that has up to 230 degrees of heat defense, the main reason for the purchase.

But if you think that’s all about it then read ahead. Should I mention that I love the way it smells? It’s a light fragrance & every time I spray it in my hair my sister would go like, ‘I love that smell’. Moreover, it comes with a lock unlock button close to the spray nozzle. That was really impressive since if you have to carry such product in your handbag the lock would ensure that no product leaks on the inside of that really expensive handbag of yours. The spray bottle looks sleek & has a shiny gold color to make – makes it look super glamorous. The method of applying is almost standard. You unlock the trigger & spray it onto your hair keeping it at 15cm away. Once you’re done with that comb through your hair& style, blow dry & straighten. You’re good to go for 3 days! My hair feels instantly soft & apparently that’s the first thing you will notice too.

LorealElnett Satin Heat Protect Styling Spray comes in a range of 3: Volume, Straight & Waves. This is definitely a repurchase for me. I’m satisfied with the results & it’s doing a great job keeping those split ends at bay. I’ll be going for Straight next time & see how it works for my hair. What heat protection products do you guys love?

I haven’t seen anything as beautiful as this in a long time.

I still remember I couldn’t see the “super moon” as it was cloudy that night. The footage is captured by Mark Gee. It’s a real time capture of the moon rising over Mount Victoria, Willington Check out Mark Gee’s webpage Full-Moon-Silhouettes to find out all the technical details of how it was filmed.
